Bernice Lindke

Bernice has a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an accounting major, and a master’s degree in public administration; both from Eastern Michigan University.  She has worked in the public sector for over 40 years.  Her first career spanned 17 years with Washtenaw County. While at the County, she held several positions, including serving as a senior accountant for Community Mental Health and as the associate coordinator for the Washtenaw Livingston Substance Abuse Coordinating Agency.  During the next 21 years, she worked for Eastern Michigan University in professional, management and executive leadership positions, including serving as director of Financial Aid and vice president for Enrollment and Student Affairs.  Upon retiring from EMU, Ms. Lindke has been a higher education consultant helping several colleges with enrollment management and senior leadership.

What Bernice learned from her experience at Washtenaw County Government is that she had a passion for working with people and for making sure that services were provided to those who had the highest need for them.  Her experience at EMU gave her many opportunities to ensure that students were provided access to college and that they were supported throughout their education.

During her two careers she has managed significant budgets, analyzed data to inform strategic decisions, and led multiple departments and staff.

Her education in business and public administration, along with her experience in the public sector, provides her with a solid foundation to carry out the duties of a trustee. She considers herself a life-long public servant, and is excited to serve the residents of Superior Township.

Her goals are to:

  • Promote transparency and accountability for the decisions that have an impact on the residents of Superior Township;
  • Ensure the adoption of a budget that is sound, fair, and equitable; one that distributes funds for programs and services to all areas of the township; and,
  • Adopt ordinances that promote and protect the township resident’s health, safety and well-being.
