BURN PERMITS
Highlights of the Burn Ordinance No. 185
- Only allowable materials can be burned (logs, stumps, trees, brush, agricultural waste, beekeeping waste, clean wood and under limited conditions household dry waste paper).
- Prior to any burning, which requires a permit permit (includes controlled or prescribed burns), a burn permit must be approved by the Fire Department. Burn Permit Applications can be obtained at the Township Hall or on the Township’s website. Completed Burn Permit Applications are turned into the Office of the Clerk, located at the Township Hall. Once the Fire Department approves your Burn Permit, you must call the Superior Twp. Fire Department at 734-484-1996 to inform them of when you want to burn. They may deny you permission to burn if it is windy or very dry.
- Fires must maintain the minimum distances from structures and property lines as required by the Burn Ordinance.
- Open burning is discouraged on Sundays, and or Holidays, in areas where neighbors will be affected from the by products of combustion.
- Fire must be during daylight hours, except when a special permit has been issued.
