Property Tax Collection

Property Taxes are collected twice a year. Collection periods begin July 1 and December 1 of each year. See millage rates below.

Pay Taxes Online (if available)

Payable July 1 through September 14 without interest. Beginning September 15 through September 30 there will a 1% interest charge added to the unpaid balance. An additional 1% interest per month will be added on the first of each month to the unpaid balance.

· Failure to receive a tax bill does not waive penalty (MCL 211.44).

· Postmark dates are NOT accepted.

· Beginning March 2 all delinquent summer and winter taxes must be paid to the Washtenaw County Treasurer. (734-222-6600)

Residents may be eligible for income-based tax deferments. Applications for summer only deferments or summer and winter deferments are available in the Treasurer’s Office during regular business hours and must be returned by September 14. Please verify that this is your property. The Township Treasurer is not responsible for any payments made on the wrong property and cannot transfer payments to or from any parcel or refund payment made on the wrong parcel.


Tax payments can be made at the Treasurer’s office during posted business hours by check, money order, cashier’s check, or cash.  Credit or debit cards can now be used to pay taxes at the Treasurer’s office.  There is a three (3) percent fee ($2.00 minimum) for credit or debit card payments.  Credit cards accepted are VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.  Fees are charged by the online payment vendor.   Taxpayers are able to view the fees and must accept them in order to submit a tax payment.

Payments by mail should be sent to: 3040 N. Prospect Rd., Ypsilanti, MI, 48198.  Please note that postmarks are not accepted.

Partial payments in any dollar amount will be accepted; however, any taxes unpaid by the statutory due dates will be subject to applicable interest and/or penalties.

Taxpayers will receive a payment confirmation number from the online payment system as well as a tax receipt mailed from the Treasurer’s office once payment is processed.
