On November 3, 2020, Lynette Findley was elected to serve for her second four year term as Clerk of Superior Township. She is honored to receive the opportunity to become your “public servant”. Public servant means placing all residents and taxpayers first which Lynette strongly believes is necessary in order to fulfill the responsibilities of the Clerk. She takes great pride in serving our residents and is firmly committed to the Oath of Office taken for the second time this past November, 2020, swearing to “Faithfully perform the duties of the Office of Clerk”.

You will find in her a person who is ethical, loyal, dedicated and honest.  These qualities will be demonstrated in the commitment of time spent carrying out all of the statutory duties and others duties in order to meet the needs of this community. These responsibilities may be found on the link to the Office of the Clerk.  Lynette believes that it is a privilege to serve in a Township that represents one of the strongest diverse populations in the state of Michigan.

Lynette Findley has been a resident of Superior Township for 32 years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling, both from the University of Michigan. She received her Ph.D. from Michigan State University in Higher Education Administration with strong emphasis in Counseling Psychology.

Lynette has worked in higher education administration for 41 years. She retired from Eastern Michigan University after serving 29 years in various administrative roles. She serves on several local and state boards, including Ypsilanti Area Community Fund (YACF), the scholarship committee for the Ann Arbor Area Community Fund (AAACF), the United Way, Power of the Purse (POP) committee, the Saint Joseph Hospital Annual Holiday Ball steering committee.  She is ending her term in June of this year as the State Chair of the MI-American Council on Education (ACE) which is the “voice” of all women serving in administration in higher education.

Lynette is an avid walker, clocking in at least 10,000 steps a day. She believes in the mind and body benefits of Transcendental Meditation (TM) which she does twice daily. She also loves cooking and playing golf.

She is a “people person”, where she enjoys meeting and talking with people of all backgrounds. She strongly believes in an open door policy and is available to meet the needs of the residents.  She believes in customer service and being consistent in the work environment and in the community. She states, “In order for the Township to have continued growth and success, it is important for all Township elected officials to work collaboratively”. She is happy to say she loves being the Clerk for Superior Township. We as a Board, are very committed to keeping the Township Superior!
