Board of Review

Reviews and corrects the property tax assessment roll and hears property owners’ appeals regarding their assessed value or classification before taxes are levied

Overview

The Board of Review is composed of the township Supervisor and three township residents appointed for two year terms by the Superior Township Board of Trustees. The purpose of Board of Review is to ensure complete accuracy of the property tax roll before any tax is levied. Every Superior Township property owner has the right to appeal their annual property valuation assessment to the Board of Review in March. At the completion of the March Board of Review, the Board of Review endorses the final Superior Township tax roll. The roll is then forwarded to the Washtenaw County Department of Equalization for further review.

Meetings

The Board meets three times every year in March to hear property valuation appeals; and in July and December to correct any omissions, errors or mistakes on the tax roll.
