ANN ARBOR, MI – The Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (TheRide) is making minor service adjustments beginning Sunday, August 27, 2023. These service adjustments are to improve service reliability and accessibility of its routes.
“We continually review our routes and make updates as needed, to improve our customers’ experience and the reliability and accessibility of our routes,” Ken Anderson, Senior Transit Planner at TheRide said. “In addition to making these service adjustments, our team is hard at work finalizing service improvements that will begin in 2024, as part of our approved millage. Public input sessions will be coming this fall.”
The service updates that begin Sunday, August 27, include minor adjustments to many routes. The adjustments include revisions to the route’s timepoints, which are certain bus stops along a route where the bus has a specific scheduled time for the bus to leave the stop. These timepoint adjustments mean that the times that the bus serves bus stops in between timepoints will be adjusted accordingly. In addition, minor schedule adjustments and changes to boarding locations at the Blake Transit Center are also planned.
The service updates are:
Route 4: Washtenaw
- Fall/Winter schedule goes into effect.
Rt 24: Eisenhower – Golfside
- Extend routing from the Briarwood Mall area to the Oakbrook Drive/Northbrook Place area near Cranbrook Tower.
- Adjust multiple timepoints.

Blake Transit Center
- Reverse the boarding locations on the transit mall drive for Routes 6/24 and Routes 25/27.
- Move Routes 3/31/33/34 to the boarding location on Fourth Avenue nearest Liberty St. Buses will line up in their order of arrival. All other routes on Fourth Ave. will board in their current locations.
- Route departure times will not change.
TheRide is also pleased to bring back its RideGuide book that outlines the maps and schedules of each route, while also providing helpful rider information. RideGuides will be available on buses, at our transit centers, and at select community locations in our service area. In addition, TheRide’s Rider Tools allow customers to stay up to date on estimated arrival times, detours and other service-related alerts along a route or at a specific bus stop. Each bus stop also has a sign regarding TheRide’s Text My Bus feature, which allows riders to text to find out when their bus will arrive at their stop.
