ABSENT VOTING INFORMATION

Absent voter ballots are available for all elections. They provide voters with a convenient method for casting a ballot when they are unable to attend the polls on election day.

Proposal 18-3 allows all eligible registered voters in Michigan to participate through absentee ballots without providing a reason. The Clerk’s Office will process the absentee voter application. Once the application is processed the voter may receive an absentee voter ballot.

The absentee ballot return envelope must include the applicant’s signature for processing. The Clerk’s Office will confirm that the signature matches the registered voter’s file of record. If you receive assistance with completing your absentee ballot, the signature of the person who helped must also be on the return envelope. There are restrictions to who may return a signed absentee ballot including:

  • The applicant
  • A member of the applicant’s immediate family
  • A person residing in the applicant’s household
  • A person who normally handles mail as employed
  • A registered elector asked to handle the application by the applicant
  • An authorized election official.

Voters may also download an absent voter application from the tab labeled Absent Voter Application on this website.

Permanent Absent Voter

The Clerk’s Office will automatically send ballots before each election to registered voters who are on the Permanent Absentee Voter list. The “Permanent Absentee Voter List” is a list of voters who have signed up to receive an absentee ballot before each election. Previously, Michigan voters could sign up to receive an absentee ballot application before each election. The List allows voters to sign up to receive a ballot before every election, eliminating the need to submit a new application each time.

If you wish to be on the Permanent Absent Voter list, please contact the Clerk’s Office – 734-482-6099 – or lynettefindley@superior-twp.org. You must complete the application and return it to the Clerk’s Office before an election. You can also apply online at this link.

Military & Overseas Voters

There are special arrangements for voters (includes spouse and dependents) who are on active duty in the U.S. military, Merchant Marines and are absent from your township of residence by reason of active duty; or, are a civilian voter who is outside the U.S. and is eligible to vote in Michigan. If any of these circumstances apply to you, please click on Military and Overseas Voters for more information.
